boarding life

We want to ensure that every boarder feels at home in their respective boarding houses. We provide numerous activities and benefits to boarders, all supervised by highly qualified staff.

  • ‘The Boma’, a recreation area which allows for braais under the African sky on weekends.
  • During supervised times, boarders have access to WiFi and computers.
  • Boarders receive home-cooked meals and break-time snacks are delivered to them at the various schools.  Special dietary requirements are catered for.
  • Duty parents oversee the welfare of our boarders and fulfill the role of someone who will listen, guide, advise and console boarders should the occasion arise.
  • There is a weekly town trip for boarders to do any shopping they may need.  Boarders who wish to attend church are dropped off and collected by a duty parent.
  • Once a term, each grade has the opportunity to organise and arrange a games afternoon for all boarders to enjoy and interact with one another.
  • If the school schedule permits, each term the boarders are offered the opportunity to attend an outing which may include a visit to the Kruger National Park, Sabi Sands, and Thornybush Private Game Reserve for game drives. Occasionally our boarders also head to the city lights to watch a movie and attend sporting events or cultural displays.
  • Boarders have access to swimming, tennis, MTB trails, hiking, bird watching, chess, and bush-walks in their spare time. If they choose, they may also join one of the local gyms.

leadership

In line with developing leadership and responsibility, each boarding house elects its own head of boarding and leaders.

These leaders assist the duty parents with the day-to-day running of the boarding houses offering support to their fellow boarders.
