Swimming Our Hearts Out

March 16, 2023

On Saturday, 12 March, the highlands of Haenertsburg were infiltrated by a bunch of highly excited and nervous Southern Cross Schools swimmers and families for the annual Ebenezer Open Water Swimming event. This event takes place in March every year at the Ebenezer Dam and always proves to be a healthy challenge and loads of fun.

The event includes the traditional mile swim(1,6 km), the 3000m open/ as well as the 500m open.

This year our swimmers and families made us extremely proud, achieving the top 4 positions for boys under 14 mile as well as a 3rd place in the 3 km male open event. Many of our College swimmers drastically improved their times from previous years and we had a few family representatives in the top 5 and top 10 in different categories, which is fantastic for an event that has over 150 entries.

The Ebenezer Swim is a tough challenge, but for those who complete it, the sense of accomplishment is unparalleled. Congratulations to all the SCS swimmers who participated this year, and we look forward to seeing you at the starting line again next year.

The support offered by our non-swimming counterparts added to the success of the day, and we will definitely return next year with even more swimmers and supporters.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the swimming, but in particular to the following learners:
