Matric Farewell: What A Send Off

November 20, 2020

Saturday, 10 October 2020 marked the matric farewell for the Southern Cross Schools Class of 2020.

Considering the nature of the year, it was truly a privilege to organise this event for our matrics.  The parameters were constantly being altered as the year progressed and the rules of Covid-19 changed.

The end result was that the matrics were able to attend this ‘rite of passage’ along with their parents and teachers.   The evening was held at Mholoholo, Ya Mati and all kudos must go to the Grade 11s for creating a beautiful evening in a limited amount of time.

The theme was ‘Chinese Lantern Festival’ which by chance worked perfectly with the outdoor setting.

The special evening is a very personalised event highlighted by teacher’s personal messages being shared with the individual matrics.  These messages left them nostalgic and in tears and definitely made one of those memories that Dr Dave Rogers spoke about at the Grade 12 Special Awards evening the night before.

It is a privilege to witness these young, beautiful adults looking absolutely breath-taking begin their journey on the next chapter in their lives.  They have grown and developed into amazing, kind, generous, confident young people who we wish all the very best for the rest of 2020 and whatever 2021 and beyond holds for them.

Well done Class of 2020!
